Pa. State Police background check, firearms systems back up :: 12/17/2014
Pennsylvania state police said their Internet-based systems are back up and running.
The statewide outage affected background checks and firearms systems statewide as well as email and telephone communications at the department’s Harrisburg headquarters.
In a statement, spokeswoman Maria Finn said the Pennsylvania Instant Check System for licensed firearm retailers and the Pennsylvania Access to Criminal History public site to obtain criminal history record checks were unavailable for about two hours.
The state police did not identify a possible cause and Ms. Finn could not immediately be reached.
Computers at the state police barracks in Washington, Pa., were restored around noon, said an officer there.
